Studio Policies

WHAT TO EXPECT FROM ME:

  • A safe and supportive enviromnent.

  • Professional instruction in a healthy vocal technique.

  • Guidance in repertoire selection for auditions, performance, competition, or recreation.

  • Performance coaching, song interpretation, stylistic artistry in a variety of genres including musical theater, art song, opera, theater, jazz, pop, folk, etc.

  • Guidance in efficient and effective practice time.  

  • Performance, audition, competition, and master class opportunities.

WHAT I EXPECT FROM YOU:

  • Consistent attendance.

  • Diligent and focused work during our lesson time.

  • Completion of "Homework", which is always practice on your own, between lessons.

  • Learning correct pitches, rhythms, dynamics, breathing, etc. for repertoire.

  • A passion for singing.

  • An open mind and heart for trying new things, experimenting with and discovering new sounds, creating and evolving characters, and communicating through music, story, and song.

Lessons

  • We will work together focusing on each student's individual talents, goals, and needs throughout the year. The expectation is that students come to their lesson prepared to work hard and have fun.

  • Lessons will be held weekly throughout the school year starting in September and ending in June.

  • During school vacations in the months of December, February and April, no lessons will take place.  No formal lessons during Summer Vacation – but lessons can be scheduled based on teacher availability.

Tuition

  • Tuition is payed on a monthly basis before the first of the month.

  • Invoices will be emailed to the student's primary contact during the last week of each month.

  • Your tuition reserves your weekly lesson time, and therefore, there are no discounts or refunds for missed lessons.

  • Sufficient advance notice of a cancellation must be given (24 hours or more) for an absence.

  • If advance notice is given, a make-up lesson may be offered, if the instructor's schedule permits.

  • Cancellations made less than 24 hours will result in the lesson being forfeited with no makeup.

    • Check (student name and lesson dates on the memo line) payable to Amanda Santo 

    • Cash (student's name and the lesson dates written on the envelope)

  •  A fee of $20 will be billed to students for late payment of lesson invoices or returned checks.

Required Materials

  • Music folder/binder for sheet music and hand-outs

  • Pencil with eraser, colored pencils (no pen)

  • Water bottle

  • Certain auditions or competitions may require you to purchase originals of music, which are relatively inexpensive, and can usually be purchased through Robert's Music in West Warwick.
